Before Hiring

If you already host your website on another hosting company, you should know the language in which it was developed and this will help you choose the configuration of your Cloud Server Pro.

Before signing up for a Locaweb Cloud Server Pro, you must observe some important points:

Files Backup

If your site is already hosted by another provider, you need to get the files hosted on the current server.

Development / Configuration

Cloud Server Pro is designed to satisfy guests seeking independence to manage their own businesses. The client is responsible for configuring and managing your own server.

When your Cloud Server Pro is ready to be configured you'll receive an e-mail, to set some basic information (machine name, installation zone) and after that it will be installed. When it's ready, you have a machine with a vanilla operating system, and you should install and configure all the softwares you're application need. After that you need to restore the backups you made from your previous host.

Since each application has peculiarities, we cannot give general instructions that can be applied in all cases. If you don't know how to configure and manage servers or to backup and restore your application, you will need the help of a technician, we cannot offer detailed support for these procedures.

Point your domain DNS to Locaweb

DNS:

  • Master: NS1.LOCAWEB.COM
  • Slave1: NS2.LOCAWEB.COM
  • Slave2: NS3.LOCAWEB.COM


You should only execute this step after you server is properly configured and tested. Before that you can access you server through the default DNS assigned to your machine (cproXXXX.publiccloud.com.br) or it's public IP address.

Make sure your application, webpages and e-mails are working as expected before changing the DNS.

Changing the DNS

The process of changing your domain DNS is called DNS delegation, and depending on your :


  • If you have your own DNS server

You need to configure all the DNS zone entries as explained in Configuring an external DNS.

  • If your domain was registered by Locaweb

  • If you domain is registered with another provider

If your domain was registered with another provider, you need to check their support information regarding DNS changes.


DNS propagation

You'll need to wait for the DNS configurations to be propagate to all DNS servers before accessing the new address, and this may take a while to happen. Read more about it on Dns propagation.
